SBA Loan Processor Senior: $30.12 - $37.64 - $45.18 hourly

Position Overview:
Heritage Bank has an exciting opportunity to join our organization! We are seeking a Small Business Administration (SBA) Loan Processor at our Everett, Washington office. The SBA Loan Processor is responsible for processing approved SBA loans through post-closing, and ensures compliance with all Bank and SBA policies, procedures and government regulations. Additionally, this position is relied upon to properly and accurately document files to reflect SBA eligibility and approval conditions.
Preferred geographical location is Everett, WA; depending on qualifications and experience, other Heritage Bank locations in Idaho, Washington, or Oregon may be considered.
The successful candidate:
- Provides exceptional level of customer service around all aspects of the banking relationship and SBA process with a focus on the processing aspects in conjunction with the SBA Lending Officer and/or Commercial Banker assigned to the relationship.
- Independently interacts with prospective and existing clients to collect information both for SBA approval and loan closing including, but not limited to, SBA Form 1919, updated financial information as necessary, entity documentation, leases, etc.
- Independently and accurately enters data into SBA software application to submit loans for SBA approval.
- Orders, collects, reviews and coordinates all pre-closing due diligence documentation prior to closing of SBA (7a and 504) loans, to include but is not limited to: company formation documents, Form 4506, flood certification, title policy, survey, environmental, insurance coverage, real estate tax status, collateral description, UCC search, invoices, bill of sale, etc.
- Upon assignment of approved SBA loan(s), thoroughly reviews files (both digital and physical) for completion and efficiently assembles a final checklist of items necessary to gain SBA approval as well as close loan.
- Communicates with customers and bankers on a regular basis to ensure loans move through pipeline in a timely and efficient manner. Resolve problems, issues or questions, both verbally and in writing, to ensure customer satisfaction and to maintain productive relationships with other bank staff / departments.
- Partners with lender and/or meets with customer and escrow to sign closing documents.
- Completes and tracks post-closing requirements, as required, i.e. closing package to customer, set up ticklers, close out and follow SBA protocol scanning set-up in a timely and accurate manner, etc.
- Attends training classes on SBA SOP, or other classes to further knowledge of SBA processing.
- Participates in the construction administration process by collecting and reviewing required information for monthly draw in conjunction with the RECAD team.
- Complies with governing regulations by maintaining current knowledge of commercial law, UCC, SBA SOP’s and Banking regulations and polices to ensure conformity with required laws and terms.
- Maintains current knowledge of banking and lending rules and regulations and assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as applicable state and federal regulations.
- Contributes to success of department by cross training and assisting in other departmental responsibilities.
- Understands and maintains working knowledge of, and ensures bank activities are performed in compliance with, all state and federal banking laws and regulations applicable to areas of responsibility.
- Ensures Bank activities are performed in compliance with the Bank’s Policies and Standards, in partnership with Enterprise Risk Management and other internal banking partners.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent – required.
- Processor - 3 years recent experience in SBA operations, demonstrating working knowledge and understanding of SBA SOP and processing and closing SBA 7A loans, SBA 504 loans and SBA Express loans – required.
- Processor Senior - 4 years recent experience in SBA operations, demonstrating working knowledge and understanding of SBA SOP and processing and closing SBA 7A loans, SBA 504 loans and SBA Express loans – required.
- Provides an exceptional level of quality service for internal/external customers; responds to customers' needs, questions and concerns in an accurate, effective, and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships, to successfully interact with all levels and functional areas of the organization.
- Excellent listening, verbal, written and telephone etiquette business communication skills, with the ability to communicate outstanding/follow up issues over the phone, in person and via email; with the ability to read, write, speak and understand English well.
- Strong working knowledge of principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to assigned area, as well as the Bank’s policies, procedures, products, and services.
- Knowledge of SBA lending and servicing SOPs, to include working knowledge of lending practices, disclosures, terminology and legal documents.
- Strong organizational, time management, data review and processing skills; with the ability to manage multiple assignments and goals, with minimal direction.
- Proficient math skills and working knowledge of bank accounting practices with the ability to determine loan-to-value, payment-to-income, and debt-to-income ratios.
- Demonstrated self-motivational skills and the ability to work in a high pressure, high-volume production-oriented environment while ensuring deadlines are met.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly focus on key issues and make decisions under pressure of time constraints.
- Unquestionable integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information required.
- Proficient use and understanding of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook), with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly. Working knowledge of financial servicing loan and documentation systems, preferred.
Work Environment:
- Climate controlled office environment.
- Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
- Work involves being able to concentrate on the matter at hand, under sometimes distracting work conditions and frequent employee and/or customer contacts and interruptions during the day.
- Work requires regular attendance, punctuality, and adherence to agreed-upon schedule with willingness to work a flexible schedule and extended hours, as needed.
Physical Demands:
- Work may involve the constant use of computer screens, reading of reports, and sitting throughout the day.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard, multi-line telephone, photocopier, scanner and facsimile which often requires dexterity of hands and fingers with repetitive wrist and hand motion.
- Typically sitting at a desk or table; intermittently standing, stooping, bending at the waist, climbing, kneeling or crouching to file materials and/or site/property inspections; Occasional lifting 20 – 30 lbs.
Travel Time: Frequent travel for business development and customer meetings; willingness to travel to other branch and customer locations when needed; valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and access to reliable transportation; or the ability to access and utilize an alternative method of transportation, when needed, to carry out job-related essential functions.
