Position Overview
The technical writer is responsible responsible for creating and maintaining instructional content for the Bank's internal processes, software products, and assigned Technology projects, as well as initiating and maintaining approval and content validation processes across multiple review and publication mediums, including AI-ingested knowledge bases.
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Gain a thorough understanding of products, services, and applications to translate complex information into simple, polished, and engaging content.
- Establish and manage efficient workflow processes for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring internal content.
- Consult with business unit leadership and other stakeholders to research, outline, write, and edit accurate and user-friendly internal content per established standards with respect to order, style, terminology, and sequencing.
- Work with various departments to understand project requirements and priorities and provides timely communication solutions.
- Work on assigned projects to assist creation and updates of user guides, job aids, SOPs, manuals, etc. impacted by the project.
- Maintain records, files, electronic media, and archiving of information for internal publications in clear and concise formats.
- Troubleshoot and resolve internal content issues and distribute metrics to best fine tune content to meet customer needs.
- Maintain standards for indexing written content to an AI knowledge base. Complete content validation measures in line with company policy and work closely with the development team to optimize the experience of the AI platform that the source documents are contained within.
- Develop internal content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation. Select or recommend use of layouts, graphics, drawings, tables, exhibits, illustrations, charts, or storyboards to amplify or clarify document objectives.
- Understand and maintain working knowledge of, and ensure bank activities are performed in compliance with, all state and federal banking laws and regulations applicable to assigned area.
Understand and comply with all policies, procedures, standards and guidance relevant to assigned job responsibilities.
Requirements:
- High School diploma – required. Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Publications, or accredited technical writing training – preferred.
- 2 years recent professional business writing/editing experience, demonstrating knowledge of technical subjects applicable to the financial services industry – required
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Provides an exceptional level of quality service and responds to internal customer needs, questions and concerns in an accurate, effective, and timely manner, to solicit feedback to improve service.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive and professional relationships; demonstrate cooperative behavior with management, business partners, customers and co-workers, and work effectively as a team member.
- Experience in software manuals, product instructions, technical online content, employee manuals and policy/procedure manuals.
- Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate outstanding/follow up issues over the phone, in person and via email to a variety of audiences; and the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well.
- Ability to independently produce factual, grammatically correct written communications with appropriate professional tone. Strong proofreading and copy-editing skills required.
- Ability to logically organize content for usability and produce exceptional original writing in a variety of styles.
- Strong analytical reasoning, problem-solving, attention to detail, organizational, data review and time management skills, with the ability to accurately manage multiple assignments, goals, and reporting requests, ensuring priorities are set and commitments and deadlines are met.
- Understanding of AI principles and the development lifecycle with the ability to analyze user queries and identify patterns to optimize AI system's search and retrieval capabilities.
- Accept feedback and remain adaptable as project priorities and/or directions shift to meet changing business needs.
- Unquestionable integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information required.
- Proficient and advanced use of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook), PDF (Adobe), SharePoint with the ability to adapt to, support and learn new tools, technologies and concepts quickly.
- Proficiency in indexing, content validation, and collaborating with development teams - preferred.
- Experience working within an Agile framework and Confluence - preferred.
Working Environment/Conditions:
- Climate controlled office environment.
- Work involves being able to concentrate on the matter at hand, under sometimes distracting work conditions and frequent employee and/or customer contacts and interruptions during the day.
- Work requires regular attendance, punctuality, and adherence to agreed-upon schedule with willingness to work a flexible and/or rotating schedule and or extended hours, and assist at other locations or remotely, as needed.
Physical Demands/Effort:
- Work may involve the constant use of computer screens, reading of reports, and sitting throughout the day.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard, multi-line telephone, photocopier, scanner and facsimile which often requires dexterity of hands and fingers with repetitive wrist and hand motion.
- Typically sitting at a desk or table; intermittently standing, stooping, bending at the waist, walking, climbing, kneeling or crouching to file materials.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs (files, boxes, etc.)
