The Greater Portland Relationship Banking team is seeking a treasury management relationship officer who will be responsible for promoting and selling the Bank’s depository and treasury management services to both existing and prospective clients—independently and in partnership with commercial and business banking teams. This role focuses on achieving deposit and fee income goals while strengthening customer relationships through exceptional service and relationship management, in alignment with Heritage Bank’s Mission, Vision, and Values
This position is Full Time; typical schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexibility is required to work as needed to ensure adequate staffing for training or employee absences.
This position is fully onsite in Portland, Oregon. This role supports branches and commercial teams in the Southern Region (Longview, WA to Eugene, OR); frequent travel is required.
Base Salary Range:
$83,370.00 - $104,213.00 - $125,055.00 annual
The Role at a Glance:
- Accountable for achieving/exceeding key objectives and goals in client retention, revenue growth, portfolio quality, fee income, cross sales, referrals, client satisfaction, business development, and knowledge of comprehensive treasury management solutions.
- Calls on new and existing commercial clients to develop and close treasury management sales business. Proactively reviews assigned client base and identifies deposit and treasury management services solutions and cross-sale opportunities based on customer needs and completes the sale. Refers and engages business partners (i.e. commercial lending, branches, wealth management, etc.), as appropriate.
- Develops treasury management sales proposals and pricing proformas for prospective and existing clients to further develop and strengthen business relationships.
- Evaluates the result of recommended pricing on overall account profitability; recommends pricing exceptions for management review and approval.
- Performs detailed pipeline and closed sales tracking using approved sales tracking system/tools.
- Conducts annual treasury management reviews for top tier commercial clients.
- Promotes business for the Bank by maintaining up to date and thorough knowledge of treasury management sales programs, products, services and industry best practices, as well as applicable federal and state regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Serves as the internal Bank expert for treasury management products and services, delivers internal treasury management presentations, and actively participates in sales meetings, joint call planning and prospect development, in partnership with region’s commercial lending and branch calling officers.
- Partners with commercial lenders in pre-proposal discussions to fully understand client needs and shape preferred solutions.
- Actively participates in joint client and prospect calls and presentations with commercial lenders and branch sales officers to further business development and sales efforts; leads treasury management discussions with clients and prospects, identifying and assessing client needs and challenges and communicating features/benefits of Bank programs, treasury management solutions and optimal account structures, products and services.
- Prepares contracts and implementation documentation, in accordance with all account opening, account ownership verification and treasury management services set-up processes; reviews and checks documents for completeness, accuracy and conformance with applicable rules/regulations and procedural requirements.
- Develops and delivers industry presentations to local professional organizations, focusing on treasury management solutions and industry best practices to further support the Bank’s sales efforts.
- Directly responsible for managing and retention of client’s operating business by ensuring client satisfaction with treasury management services and solutions and increasing portfolio revenue.
- Works closely with service and operational areas of the Bank, third party vendors, etc. providing input to Bank systems designs, modifications, and implementation of treasury management services implementation processes, and day to day client service delivery, as needed and requested.
- Maintains Treasury Management intranet site as necessary and works collaboratively with various departments (i.e. Marketing, Electronic Banking, Training, etc.), to create customer facing content, training materials, tutorials and FAQ’s in a web-friendly format and logical structure, as assigned.
- Performs research and data gathering activities, tracks/monitors and prepares reports and works on special projects and assignments as requested.
- Maintains proficient knowledge of, and ensures bank activities are performed in compliance with, all state and federal banking laws and regulations applicable to areas of responsibility.
- Ensures Bank activities are performed in compliance with the Bank’s Policies and Standards, in partnership with Enterprise Risk Management and other internal banking partners.
Core Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent – required. Associate's Degree or higher in Business, Marketing, or relevant discipline preferred.
- 3 years recent experience in treasury management sales and relationship/portfolio management with proven business development and closing new sales in a commercial banking environment required.
- Equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered.
- Proven track record for developing new sales, closing sales and achieving annual objectives for treasury management sales goals, fee income generation (Non-II), cross sales and referrals.
- Provides an exceptional level of quality service for internal and external customers and responds to customers' needs, questions and concerns in an accurate, effective, and timely manner.
- Ability to thoroughly assess customer needs and understand customer requirements, and translate into sales deliverables across a wide array of treasury management products and technologies.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain open, professional, positive and productive relationships; demonstrate cooperative behavior with management, business partners, customers and co-workers, and work effectively as a team member.
- Detailed functional and technical knowledge of existing and developing treasury management services, documentation and internet technologies.
- In-depth working knowledge of all products, services and programs; with demonstrated sales and business development skills.
- Strong ability to maintain and manage personal composure when confronted with a difficult situation and/or customer, with the ability to provide information, data, advice and solutions, as well as gain trust and respect.
- Excellent listening, verbal, written and business communication skills, delivered in person, via phone or email, including effective questioning strategies, negotiations skills, presentation techniques and training delivery skills; with the ability to read, write, speak and understand English well.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to effectively multitask, complete assignments and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently, under limited direction/supervision, exercising independent judgment, referencing available resources, and demonstrating a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and departments.
- Unquestionable integrity and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive and confidential information required.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge and ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and follows all Bank policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) - preferred.
- Advanced PC experience using MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe), with the ability to adapt to learn and support new products and technologies quickly.
- Working knowledge and general industry experience with new and developing electronic delivery products and services and associated technologies.
Working Environment/Conditions:
- Climate controlled office environment.
- Work involves being able to concentrate on the matter at hand, under sometimes distracting work conditions and frequent employee and/or customer contacts and interruptions during the day.
- Work requires regular attendance, punctuality and adherence to agreed-upon schedule with willingness to work a flexible and/or rotating schedule and or extended hours, and assist at other locations or remotely, as needed.
- May be exposed to potential risk and hazards associated with criminal activity (e.g., robbery and/or attempted robbery, fraud, security) - receives detailed instruction to minimize risk.
Physical Demands/Effort:
- Work may involve the constant use of computer screens, reading of reports, and sitting throughout the day.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard, multi-line telephone, photocopier, scanner and facsimile which often requires dexterity of hands and fingers with repetitive wrist and hand motion.
- Typically sitting at a desk or table; intermittently standing, stooping, bending at the waist, walking, climbing, kneeling or crouching to file materials.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 20 lbs. (files, boxes, etc.)
Travel Time: Frequent travel is required to other Bank or customer locations and meeting sites which may include overnight travel and extended stay availability when needed; valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and access to reliable transportation; or the ability to access and utilize an alternative method of transportation, when needed, to carry out job-related essential functions is required.
